"The Mountain Is You" by Brianna Wiest: How to Stop Destroying Your Happiness

Woman reading in a hammock

"The Mountain Is You: Transforming Self-Sabotage Into Self-Mastery" is about so much more than mountains. This book is about finding strength in your darkness, it's about pushing through your fears, and it's about becoming the best version of yourself. Brianna Wiest has a way with words that will inspire you to face your own challenges and come out stronger on the other side

Why do we destroy our own happiness?

"The Mountain Is You: Transforming Self-Sabotage Into Self-Mastery" is a book, just as implied, about self-sabotage. Why do people have a tendency to do things that destroy their own happiness and success? The book is about finding out what those things are for you and turning them into your strength. This is just one of the beautiful parts of this beautiful book:

Your new life is going to cost you your old one.

It’s going to cost you your comfort zone and your sense of direction.

It’s going to cost you relationships and friends.

It’s going to cost you being liked and understood.

It doesn’t matter.

The people who are meant for you are going to meet you on the other side.

You’re going to build a new comfort zone around the things that actually move you forward.

Instead of being liked, you’re going to be loved.

Instead of being understood, you’re going to be seen.

All you’re going to lose is what was built for a person you no longer are.

Brianna Wiest explains why we resist efforts to change, often until self-sabotage feels completely futile. How to step out of our own way and into our potential? Brianna Wiest tries to answer that question by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits and pointing out the importance of building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies.

A book that is bringing light

For centuries, the mountain has been a metaphor for the big challenges we face, especially ones that seem impossible to overcome. To scale our mountains, we actually have to do the deep internal work of excavating trauma, building resilience, and adjusting how we show up for the climb. This book will definitely be helpful when it comes to taking on your next big challenge. It doesn't matter what that is, whether it's quitting smoking or asking for a raise, we all have something we're trying to overcome. Brianna Wiest gives practical advice on how to do just that while helping to accept the changes in life. Here's what others say about it:

This book is the closest thing to going to therapy without actually going. A book to read multiple times in order to really make use of the learnings. Probably one I will have to read twice a year and study in depth in order to do the internal work each time to make real progress.

This book is a guide, a therapy catalog, a workbook, a perfect complete bible that converses with you at a soul level, helps you locate your inner traumas and talents, lets you feel and heal your old agonies and then after releasing all the tension and emotional baggage, it sets you to the path of self-discovery and actualization until you find your deepest most desperate desire to become your honest, real, ideal self. This book has done me wonders. Being able to be confident in me has been a blessing. This book really brought me out in the light. It resonates with me so much.

I love this kind of self-help books! At some point in our lives, they teach us that life can be different and much more pleasant if we change our attitude and way of thinking..
