How does IPL hair removal work?
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is just what it says, without overly complicated pseudo-scientific aliases. It is a pulse of very intense light energy that targets melanin in the skin. The light penetrates through the skin and gets absorbed by the structure containing the highest level of melanin which we can find at the hair root. This light energy basically burns (that’s why you feel the sting) the dermal papillae, which produce hair. It damages their structure and function so they can’t make new hair. Et voilà! Two phases of IPL hair removal
The hair growth cycle consists of three distinct phases. IPL technology is only effective in the anagen/growth phase, but not all hairs are in the same phase at the same time. This is why, in PHASE 1, you should use your PEACH™ 2 Pro Max IPL device once a week for 12 weeks to ensure you catch each hair during its growth phase.
If you miss the exact date, no worries. Just treat yourself within 3 days after the original planned treatment date. With 7 minutes per treatment, this is completely doable. If you haven’t, for whatever life reason, managed to get to your IPL within those 3 days overdue, restart PHASE 1.
PHASE 2 is the maintenance phase in which you use the device once a month to keep your skin hair-free. Maybe you’ll need more or less frequent treatments; we’re all different. So take the month as a base and see what works for you. Someone with darker hair (lucky you, IPL works better on you, especially in contrast to lighter skin) and strong roots might benefit from IPL maintenance every three weeks, while others will be ok with 5 or more weeks. Remember not to plan any activity involving sun exposure right after your IPL treatment for about 48 hours. So, we suggest getting your PHASE 1 done before the summer and vacation months.
So remember, the time it takes to complete a full program varies from person to person, as well as the location and quality of the hair on the body. After each treatment, you will find the hair growing slower and finer. Most people will see significant results after these 12 treatments / 12 weeks from PHASE 1.
