Review: FOREO's LUNA mini 3 And Why We Love It

LUNA mini 3 is out and here's what we can tell you right off the bat. The personalized smart skincare device for anyone who's looking for a great cleanse and amazing skin is finally out! It’s specifically designed with the intention of being the new go-to gym bag must have. The compact design is what makes it easy to bring with you for cleansing on the go. However, this doesn't mean that it can only be used by our active lifestyle fans; LUNA mini 3 works for everyone.

What's The Big Deal And How Is It Different From LUNA mini 2?

In comparison to other skincare devices, LUNA mini 3 is worlds away. But if we're doing a side-by-side of LUNA mini 2, then the main differences that you might notice are the larger brush head, and the way softer, longer bristles.In addition to this, there is a special Glow boost mode, which is a 30 second cleansing system, to make the most out of your gym skincare routine in the least amount of time. What really sets it apart from its predecessor, is the fact that you can connect it to your smartphone and set your very own cleansing preferences that work best for you.

Sounds Great, But How Does It Work?

Step one will be to unpack your LUNA mini 3 and try to turn it on by pressing the universal button. You might have to charge it before getting started, especially if you want to use it for as long as possible without having to charge it again! The first time ever using your LUNA mini 3, you’ll have to register your device by activating Bluetooth on your smartphone, and then pressing the button on the device to sync it to the FOREO app and set up your initial cleansing preference. After that, you’ll be able to use the device either with or without the app, it’s completely your choice. Make sure your face is make-up free and dampen your skin. Then, after applying your favorite cleanser to LUNA mini 3, you can turn it on by clicking the universal button for a regular cleanse (or try out the special glow boost mode by clicking that same button quickly twice). To get the most out of your cleanse, make sure to use circular motions on the cheek and forehead area, and an up and down gliding motion on your nose. When you’re done, you can turn off the device by holding down the button for 3 seconds. Keep in mind that if you were using glow boost mode the device will automatically turn off when finished. Now all you have to do is rinse your face, pat it dry, and continue with your skincare as you usually would.

Caring For My LUNA mini 3

Now that you know how to use it, you should probably also know how to care for it. LUNA mini 3 is a sturdy little device, but if you really want to make sure you’re keeping it in optimal condition then there are a couple rules you should abide by:

Try to stay away from clay based cleansers. But if you really love using them, then make sure you wash your LUNA thoroughly afterwards; the clay can cause damage to the silicone bristles which means you won’t be getting the best clean each time. To keep your LUNA working for as long as possible, take a look at which cleansers work best with your silicone skincare device.
Even though LUNA mini 3 is totally waterproof, it isn’t immune to typical problems that come with moist and damp environments (AKA mold). Make sure to keep it in a dry area, and remember to pat it dry after each use.

We decided to go one step further and test out the new FOREO cleansing device on different skin types around the office just for you! Now that's dedication. Here's what our LUNA mini 3 testers had to say about their experiences using the new skincare device: Mature & Dry Skin:

My main concern was that it would aggravate my broken facial capillaries (or even make them worse). However, after trying the LUNA mini 3 my worries were put to rest; there was no further damage, and the device itself is super soft (which I love). Right from the start I noticed a difference in the feel and look of my skin: it felt smooth, clean and way firmer than before. Another great aspect is that the cleansing doesn't take long at all, which is great if you live a fast paced lifestlye like I do. And when you're in the mood for a longer cleanse, you can just repeat the treatment once again. My only criticism is that the power levels can be adjusted exclusively via the FOREO app, which can be a little bit impractical when you're hands are wet from washing your face...

Combination Skin:

My first experience using LUNA mini 3 was slightly confusing and that's mostly due to the app, but I figured it out pretty quickly. Basically, once you choose your favorite setting then your LUNA remembers your previous selection and it will automatically start off with that intensity, so you don't have to use the app each time. My skin is usually more on the rough side so I immediately increased the intensity for a stronger cleanse. The first time trying it I was worried that it wasn't working because it felt too gentle to be working. But I was so wrong: my face literally smoother than ever, and my skin just felt more refreshed and awake. The only thing I didn't enjoy was that it lasts very short. Keep in mind that when I use LUNA mini 3 it's usually after my training at night and I would love to relax a bit during my skincare routine, so I found myself repeating the treatment once or twice. But again, this is down to personal preference. Other than that, I only have positive things to say about this LUNA and the effect it has on my skin.

Sensitive Skin:

My skin is very sensitive, so when I tried LUNA mini 3 for the first time I selected the suggested power level for first time users (level 8) which dried out my skin a lot. But when I tried it again I chose level 1 and it felt great. I got such a great cleanse and my skin felt super soft and looked so bright. I noticed that I was getting little breakouts, but I discovered that this is normal when you switch up your facial cleansing routine because it's your skins way of purging all the bad stuff that it collected over time. In short, it means it's working. After a few weeks the breakouts subsided and I can say that I'm basking in the effects of LUNA mini 3! Typically I only use it at night after I take my makeup off, and I use it in combination with serum (my own essential oils) and I can say it works great and my skin is 100% loving it.
