How to Make a DIY Face Mask and Natural Beauty Products

But they often cost (gulp) more than we’d like to fork over. Did you know that for less money (and not too much trouble), you can make your own clean beauty products with just five ingredients or less that are just as good? Learn how to make a DIY face mask, lip scrub, body scrub, and face mist that are so good you’ll never need to buy these from the beauty aisle again.

Honey DIY Face Mask for Dry Skin

Ingredients: ½ very ripe avocado 2 tablespoons organic honey ½ teaspoon coconut oil Step 1. Blend the avocado, honey, and coconut oil together until creamy. Step 2. Smooth onto face and massage into skin by hand or with the LUNA 3 anti-aging mode. Step 3. Leave on face for 20 minutes. Step 4. Rinse with warm water.

Green Tea DIY Face Mask for Oily Skin

Ingredients: 2 teaspoons brewed green tea 1 teaspoon honey 2 teaspoons clay (like kaolin, french green, or rhassoul clay) 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel Step 1. Mix the green tea, honey, clay, and aloe vera together. Step 2. Smooth onto face and leave for 20 minutes. Step 3. Rinse with warm water.

Organic Coconut Oil Lip Scrub

Ingredients: 1 tablespoon coconut oil 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1 tablespoon honey Step 1. Mix together the sugar, honey, and coconut oil. Step 2. Gently massage onto lips to remove dead skin. Step 3. Rinse with warm water. Step 4. Put in a small, airtight container and store in the refrigerator. The scrub will keep for up to two weeks in the fridge.

Lavender Body Scrub

Ingredients 2 cups organic sugar 1 cup grape seed oil 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 tablespoons dried lavender (optional) 12 drops lavender essential oil Step 1. Mix together the sugar, grape seed oil, vanilla, and lavender. Step 2. Gently massage scrub over the skin, then rinse. Be careful, because the grape seed oil can make the shower floor slippery. Step 3. Store in an airtight jar. The scrub will keep up to a week in the fridge.

Soothing Rosewater Face Mist

Ingredients ½ cup rose water (see below for recipe) 4 drops vitamin E oil 3 drops ylang-ylang essential oil Rose water ingredients 2+ organic roses (use just the petals) 1 teaspoon vodka 2 cups distilled water Step 1. Make the rose water by putting the petals, vodka, and distilled water into a sauce pan. Step 2. Simmer on low heat for 20 minutes. The water will become pink and the petals’ color will fade. Step 3. Place a strainer over a jar to separate the petals from the liquid as you pour the rose water into the jar. Step 4. Combine ½ cup rose water with vitamin E and 3 drops ylang-ylang oil into a dark glass spray bottle. The colored glass will keep the potion fresher, longer. Step 5. Spray onto your face when your skin needs a refreshing pick me up. Bonus: store it in the fridge for an instant cooling effect.
